Our Company

The History of Centriforce

Since 1976, Centriforce has established a strong reputation for innovation in the UK plastic recycling and reprocessing industry. In many ways, we were ahead of our time with our dedication to minimising our environmental impact and by operating ethically.

We originally operated under the name of Chisholm Plastics Ltd from our Liverpool HQ, but we have come a long way since then by continuing to innovate and provide our customers with the products that they need in a wide variety of industries.

Now manufacturing high-quality damage prevention and maintenance products from recycled plastics for an array of applications, Centriforce continues to innovate and we now provide our range of industry leading products to multiple countries across the world.

1976

Chisholm Plastics Limited established

Based in Liverpool, we began operating as Chisholm Plastics Limited back in 1976, pioneering in the UK Plastics Recycling industry.

1979

Introducing Stokbord®

Our now much trusted Stokbord® Sheet and Stokbord® board products were first introduced to the UK market, manufactured via an innovative 'pressed board' technique.

1982

East Midland Electricity Board Adoption

EMEB adopt our recycled plastic cable covers as replacement for traditional concrete tiles, helping to protect their underground electricity cables.

1984

Centritile® is Launched

We invested our resources into look at sheet extrusion solutions to ensure that we continue to innovate and stay ahead of the competition. This results in the new Centritile® product - a roll out tape tile for underground utility protection.

1987

Exporting into Agriculture Markets Overseas

We take our range of Stokbord® products overseas; taking our innovative solutions into agricultural sectors outside of the UK.

1991

Acquisition of Plastic Recycling Ltd

We acquire Plastic Recycling Ltd in Worcester, UK. This leads to the creation of the Centriforce sales organisation.

1997

Centriforce Products Limited is Born

We begin to operate as Centriforce Products Limited. This coincides with us investing through into researching profile extrusion equipment, utilising recycled HDPE materials.

1999

First Boardwalks Installed

Our innovative Duraplas Boardwalks product is utilised for the first time to provide a non-slip, rot resistant alternative to conventional wood at Shapwick Moor in Glastonbury, Somerset, UK.

2000

Major Expansion at our Liverpool Site

Centriforce undergoes a major expansion at our Liverpool site. New buildings and extrusion equipment are installed as we develop a 6 acre site. This investment allows us to vastly improve our Stokbord® product witha new sheet extrusion format.

2003

Expansion in to New Markets

We successfully enter the industrial, construction and automotive sheet markets with Stokbord® and other Centriforce sheet and board products.

2006

Substantial Investment in Recycling

Centriforce continues to move with the times, making notable investments into recycling equipment for the processing of plastic film and plastic bottle waste products.

2008

Further Investment Made Into Extrusion Equipment

Further investment is made into extrusion equipment for both our Stokbord sheet and profile products to capitalise on growing demand from UK and export markets.

2009

Centriforce Wins International Safety Award

We are awarded the British Safety Council's International Safety Award for our efforts to ensure the safety of our employees. In the same year, we increase capacity on raw material recycling and Duraplas Profile production

2010

Achieve Further Accreditations

Following an audit by Lloyd’s Registered Quality Assurance Ltd, we are awarded a further two accreditations - the BS EN ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System and OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health and Safety Management System accreditations.

2011

High Demand Leads to Increased Capacity

Further increases are made to our on-site capacity with a new high output sheet line added to manufacture our market leading Stokbord® recycled plastic sheet and board products.

2012

Plastics Recycling Facility

We announce yet more investment into our facilities. This time we invest into a new plastics recycling facility ('PRF') to handle and sort waste plastic bottles and film.

2014

Environmental Efforts Recognised

Centriforce proudly achieves the ISO14001 Environmental accreditation in recognition of our long standing environmental efforts.

2015

Blown Film Production Introduced

An investment is made into a blown film line. This enables us to start producing our range of underground warning tapes & safety barrier tapes.

2016

Plastic Mesh Production Begins

We begin production of our underground warning mesh product following an investment being made into our plastic mesh production line.

2019

Stokbord® Drum is launched

Centriforce launches the Stokbord® Drum - a brand new product designed to provide buried utility protection. This revolutionary product aims to create a safer and more efficient process for adding heavy duty utility protection.
