Shift Manager (Production)

Centriforce is looking to recruit a Shift Manager to join our busy and expanding management team. As Shift Manager you will work closely with the SM team to effectively manage one of four teams tasked with cross-team common objectives, where your focus will be on all areas of the operation. You will be responsible for ensuring that the company maintains the goal of a safe compliant factory. You will achieve this by ensuring that the correct systems and procedures are in place and adhered to. You are expected to deliver high-quality products in line with allocated time scales.

To succeed in this role, you must have knowledge of plastic extrusion processes, or alternatively, have sound engineering knowledge in a continuous process line environment and an ability to learn new processes quickly. The role requires you to be a proven leader who is confident to be ‘face of the company’ during your shift, an excellent communicator who can routinely deliver all requirements relating to safety, quality, delivery & cost, with high attention to detail and a problem-solving mentality. You will have a good understanding of HSE rules and standards and be committed to working collaboratively, excellent organisational skills are also essential.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Maintenance and compliance with company and regulatory standards (HSE)
• Organise the departmental resources to meet output and quality requirements
• Monitor day by the hour performance and work to meet daily performance targets
• Ensure that products are manufactured on time and to specification
• Lead, manage and develop the production shift, and drive cross-shift co-operation
• Optimise shift productivity and take a lead role in standardising production processes.
• Be fully engaged in continuous improvement driving a quality culture throughout the team identifying and implementing process, system and data improvements.
• Ensure that the ISO and internal quality system procedures are followed
• Organising staff holiday schedules and rotas ensuring the site is sufficiently staffed
• Project involvement (new plant/systems)
• Monitor systems and procedures with the aim of identifying problems/failures and liaise with the Manufacturing/Operations team to organise effective maintenance.
• Take a professional approach to all issues relating to the activities of the business
• Maintenance of a tidy well organised working environment.
• Ensuring that the company safe working practices are adhered to at all times.
• Taking action to reduce or eliminate the risk to the health and safety
• Assessing, implementing and maintaining statutory controls to enable the company to meet its obligations under the Health and Safety At Work Act 1974.
• Reporting of any Health and Safety issue directly to the Safety Manager.
• Implementation and maintenance of hygiene standards within welfare facilities.
