Centriforce and Plastics Recycling

Centriforce is the UK's most experienced plastics recycler. At our 6-acre site in Liverpool, we are able to offer a unique, fully traceable recycling process taking a range of waste plastics and converting them into new second-life products.

This process capability allows us to offer direct closed-loop recycling for a wide range of waste producers, from large retail groups through construction, and on to local authorities.

Over our long history, we have been major participators in, and contributors to many research projects, including working with Cardiff and Brighton Universities, The Biffaward Scheme, WRAP, and RAPRA.

We believe that the combination of recycling experience, technical competence, our open approach to new ideas, and unique 'waste to product' process, puts us at the forefront of the Plastics Recycling Industry, and makes us the ideal UK-based partner for sustainable plastics recycling.

Our product range also offers the scope for a wide-range of 'buy-back' opportunities, particularly for large retail and construction groups, where we can take specific waste plastic and convert it directly into products which can be used, or retailed by the group whose waste plastic we have recycled.

This unique capability is already being used in a variety of products, from construction site hoardings, to a prize-winning product bringing recycled plastic, glass and wood together in a revolutionary counter, kitchen top or table top range, through to outdoor furniture, boardwalks and other products used by our partners in a range of community, land use ,or management projects.

Some Interesting Facts About Plastic Recycling

  • UK current recycling levels (05/06) save between 10-15 million tonnes of CO2 per annum compared to landfill / incineration at current mix. This is the equivalent to 3.5 million cars coming off UK roads.

  • Replacing plastic packaging with alternative materials would consume 582 million giga-joules more energy and create 43 million tones of additional CO2 emissions. The energy saved by using plastic is the equivalent to 101.3 million barrels of oil, and the CO2 saved is the equivalent to running 12.3 million cars each year.

  • Recycling a single plastic bottle can conserve enough energy to light a 60w lightbulb for up to 6 hours, and a typical 400 metre walkway would contain approximately 600,000 bottles. That same bottle would also save enough energy to power a computer for 25 minutes.

  • Producing one tonne of concrete generates almost a tonne of CO2 emissions, whilst every tonne of plastic recycled saves 1.5 tonnes of CO2 emissions which represents a significant saving and environmental benefit.
